Biostar - Merging Of Accounts
I am quite sure that the main BioStar page is not the page to ask this, but I cannot find a place to ask (except in a forum suggested by the faq where I have to register (again)), so I will ask here, feel free to edit/delete the question or move to appropriate place if such exists.
My problem is that I have a Biostar account that I've been using (unregistered). Feeling that an openID registration is more appropriate I tried to register that account using OpenID. In response I got a new (empty) account with the same user name. Is there any way to merge the two accounts or even delete the new one and just stay with the unregistered account?
Sorry if this is not the right place for site questions, but don't know where to ask...

A similar question has been asked in the Biostar Mailing list a few days ago. Have a look at it. Basically, you have to ask to one moderator or to the mailing list.
Note: we should probably put a link to the biostar mailing list somewhere here in the website.

Good that you ask! The moderators have been wondering for a while why some users kept making new accounts. This might shed some light on the issue.
I got a message when I logged in to my account to "register" it, and this created a new account! hardly the response I would expect from the site. It should at least prompt "Create new registered account". Hope this helps, I would imagine it was a common problem...
I had not thought of this issue, as I started from OpenID. I'd encourage others to do the same at any site, assuming they have an OpenID identity. Anyway - I expect an administrator can merge accounts, if you tell us the user name for each.
both the accounts have the same username! the one I'm posting under... This is also interesting, that a "new" user can be created with a pre-existing username and then both exist.
Sogart, I have merged your accounts. The open account remains the one that this question was posted from.
Same problem still exists 3.3 years later..
