kraken2 no longer supported? - NCBI downloads no longer working

Hey all,

does anyone know if kraken2 is still being supported? https://github.com/DerrickWood/kraken2/issues shows a lot of issues and recently I cannot get any db data to download from ncbi. There are issues raised but seems like no solution or replies from the author. This is a popular program in metagenomics, it would be a shame if it died due to this issue.

The latest commit to the repository is less than a month old, and an issue as recent as 8 days ago got replies from one of the developers, so it seems pretty obvious Kraken2 is still actively supported.

What h.mon said is correct. I want to add that downloading from NCBI is very flakey due to all the different network configs. The kraken folks have tried to simplify the process of downloading from NCBI but it's too complicated to fully automate. You should post the error/issue you're having

Thank you. Didn't realize those comments were from devs. My problem was same as existing issues so didn't post. I will try to manually download and build the db. S.
