How to convert .tar files to fasta files
Hello,
I have just downloaded the updated nrNCBI database (from the NCBI FTP link). Once I have obtained the 38 tar.gz files, I have decompressed them. I now have a list of 38 .tar files. I want to finish the process by having one single .fasta file with the whole database. How do I do this? Should I transform each .tar file into a .fasta file and then merge all the files into one? If so, how do I convert each one into a FASTA file?
I have hardly found any questions like this, and there is no answer to this question.
