I am mainly adding this short tutorial for my benefit due to the fact that this website can be difficult to find.

Have you ever come across a clinical data parameter while processing TCGA data and then wondered what the parameter means? You may then notice that each has an associated CDE code, but what does that mean?

For example

new_tumor_event_pharmaceutical_tx
additional_pharmaceutical_therapy
CDE_ID:3427616

We can search for these CDE codes at the CDE Browser in order to obtain a better description of them.

Step 1, go to Public ID Search tab and paste in the CDE code

Step 2, click Search and the results will appear at the bottom

Step 3, browse through the tabs
