Forum: List of free, online training resources for researchers

Hi All,

I apologize ahead of time if this has already been addressed and exists elsewhere, but I was wondering if someone is working on/has put together an updated list of exclusively free, online training resources for researchers who are locked out of their labs and quarantined at home for the foreseeable future. I did some digging but most of what I found was older, or a mixture of in person and online resources.

I know that my institution (and I'm sure many others) are instituting a "teleworking" policy, which is much easier for some folks than others. Many lab-based researchers have expressed interest in using some of the time that they now have to try to enhance their knowledge/skill-set outside of their normal comfort zone. In my mind, the bioinformatics community is uniquely positioned to provide them with endless opportunities to do just this, considering the open-source nature of the community.

I've put together a "starter" list from some resources that I've personalized used, or have on my own to-do list, but I know there are a ton of other opportunities out there which would be hugely beneficial for everyone looking to learn!

No problem-just trying to put things into perspective for my reasoning behind trying to put this together, as I think it will be particularly important to have a list like this at the moment!

An update on this, we ended up putting together a list of courses that researchers/students could access for free, but that also provided tracking, course completions, graded quizzes, etc. Here is the list for those who are interested.
