Hi,

I have expression data from the Affymetrix GeneChip Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 array, it is consisted of expression values for 54715 probes for each individual. I have a XLS file that matches probe IDs to its corresponding gene name. There are some genes associated with multiple probes. In order to detect the expression values of genes with multiple probes, I would like to get the average of the expression values of these probes, get the average value and assign this average value as the expression value of the genes. Could someone provide me a way to accomplish this? Thanks

For an end-to-end workflow towards Affymetrix arrays see this paper on F1000Research. There is also a section that identifies probes assigned to more than one gene.
