How to approximate history of SNP by representative selection tests

I read the article about positive selection. in that article, they approximate the time of the positive selection . in their figure, something wrote like below

 Tajima's D - 250 ky
 |DDAF| - 80 ky
 Fst & XPCLR - 50~70 ky
 |iHS| & XPEHH - 30 ky 
(ky - 1000 years)

How can approximate time of the positive selection by the result of selection tests? I can't understand...

These measures are all measures of nucleotide frequency. I'm not sure of the meaning of " time of the positive selection". Does it mean the time a SNP was under positive selection, or the time since a SNP was under positive selection. Anyway, you can imagine that when a SNP is under selection, it might change the diversity - this is most obvious with negative selection - you would not expect to see any diversity at SNPs under negative selection as variants would be quickly and efficiently removed.
