I have a phylogenetic tree composed of 1,000 or so sequences and am wanting to color each node based on a tip label attribute. I understand that Figtree allows users to input an annotation file to facilitate this process, but I am unable to locate the documentation to accomplish this.

For example, if I have a tip label of the form: MG280328/Common_Goldeneye/Anatidae/Anseriformes/USA/2016/H1N3/NAM, how can I structure the annotation file in order to color the node by bird order (e.g., Anseriformes)? Thanks for your input.
