hi there, I am new to bioinformatic topics, i have a homework about comparing two protein protein interaction databases (e.g. nodes namber interactions) for only human ppi databases by using python. I have good skill with programming but i couldnt download these data :/ also there is something with the "score" that i couldnt find any article to help me understanding it. thanks in advance
Props to you for stating that this is homework.
We could point you to the relevant download pages if you told which database you're interested in. As for the interaction scores, they are intended to measure some sort of confidence in the interaction being real but they would be difficult to compare across databases because each one uses a different scoring system. To understand what each score mean, you'd need to read the paper in which it is reported, usually the first paper that describes the database or one of its updates if the score is a later introduction.
I have chosen to compare STRING and HIPPIE databases, i have downloaded the data from there but i couldnt understand the meaning of the numbers of the scoring and the interaction number. Could you please point me to articles reşevent to this subject. Thank you
