Hello everybody. I am doing a project for college, and I am looking for a database to extract a DNA sequence of a certain species. The information I have: tax_id Org_name GeneID CurrentID Status Symbol Aliases description other_designations map_location chromosome genomic_nucleotide_accession.version start_position_on_the_genomic_accession end_position_on_the_genomic_accession orientation exon_count OMIM

I looked through the FTP servers of the NCBI, and I couldn't find any way to recognize the species through the information I have, although I am pretty certain it's more than enough to do so.

Thanks ahead.

in stead of looking in the ftp location, have you tried querying it through the NCBI website query form? Using the advanced query option you can easily formulate very specific queries.

Also inputting the tax_id in the NCBI taxonomy database would give the species information.

Hello orelsmail,

which sequence do you want to fetch? Reference Genome of the species? Sequence of the gene? Sequence of a certain transcript?
