Hi everyone!

I am a bioinformatics student who has already got in touch with some machine learning techniques building some models for a classification task related to drugs and proteins. Since it seem I discovered this new branch of bioinformatics which I really find fascinating I was wondering what are the current classification problems which can be studied by using machine learning and deep learning methods. I would like to propose a topic to one my mentors for my final project and I would like to know what are the ones you find the more interesting or which ones are riding a wave these days.

Personally I really keen on gene annotation, predictions, bioinformatics data mining challenges but if I had to chose one would be something related to drugs and its activity against a standarized values. For instance, through studying canonical smiles structures
