VEP CDS deletion annotation

Dear all ,

I got short question about the annotation of CDS deletion by VEP, it seems that the position match with the base before the deletion (like for insertion). I checked HGVS format and they are according to speak about the position where the deletion start.

So is it normal ? Do you know the reason ? I thought maybe there is other directives for others organisms.

So it's seems that VEP CDS position got 1 base shift for deletion :

  • One base more for genes in forward strand

  • One base less for genes in reverse position
