Where can I find the ATC codes for all drugs (approved or withdrawn)?

Dear all,

I was wondering where I could get a downloadable list of drugs and their ATC code (Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Classification System)?

I checked DrugBank, and while they have a website dedicated to ATC codes (https://www.drugbank.ca/atc), there appears to be no downloadble list associated with the ATC codes. Also, I could not find an up-to-date list at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Drug Statistics Methodology, which I thought surprising.

Does anyone know where I could get such list from? I would like a list of all drugs, might they be approved or withdrawn.

Many thanks for all your suggestions! Leanna

Hey Leanna Could you get the list or not?

The European Commission has a list of all human drugs by ATC code and a list for veterinary products. I don't think there's a convenient download but if you expand the whole tree and save the page, you should be able to parse the resulting HTML/XML.

Many thanks for your suggestion, that's an awesome idea!

best, Leanna

Save that file to you local desktop. Go to https://translate.google.com. Choose Documents option next to text and upload your pdf file. Get your translation.

An updated list is available at bioportal. Need to be parsed. https://bioportal.bioontology.org/ontologies/ATC
