I am using R (with sangerseqR, seqinr, or Fragman) to read ab1 files with the read.abif functions these packages offer. I can do all the wonderful things that any of these tools offers, and also modify the data with other packages in the areas of interest. I'd like to write a modified version of my ab1 files but it seems no tools i have come across offer a write.abif function. While I am trying to reverse the read.abif process I am wondering if anyone has already solved this or has suggestions of other ways to address the need.
