The NIH-funded Cancer Target Discovery and Development (CTD2) Center at Johns Hopkins University, led by Prof. Andrew J. Ewald and Prof. Joel S. Bader, seeks postdoctoral candidates to fill multiple positions in cancer systems biology. Our Center's mission is to apply quantitative experimental and computational methods using organotypic cell culture to dissect the molecular mechanisms of cancer metastasis. Our goal is to identify and validate targets for processes including tumor invasion, dissemination, and metastatic outgrowth, as exemplified by our previous work (PMIDs 22689777, 24332913, 24590176, 26831077). Exceptional candidates who share our vision of developing new classes of therapeutic targets will be considered across the spectrum from primarily experimental to primarily computational or theoretical training.
Requirements:
A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. demonstrating creative and independent research relevant to cancer systems biology. Experimental researchers must have experience with generation and analysis of quantitative data whether from genomics, imaging, or other modalities. Computational or theoretical researchers must show the ability to develop and apply new methods, rather than exclusive use of existing software, and must have a deep understanding of biological systems. Experimental areas of particular interest include organotypic cell culture, genomics, genetic screens, and genetically engineered mouse models. Computational areas include population genetics, quantitative imaging, genomic data analysis, and network biology.
