Maximum amount of data that smartPCA program can process?

Hi,

I was curious to know what is the maximum amount of data that the EIGENSOFT package can process, specifically the smartPCA program. The page says about "special care" for upto 8 bil. genotypes, however, that is specified for the QTL program. I was more interested in just obtaining the PCs along with the eigenvalues. It'd be great if anyone can give some insight on this.

I am generating some simulation data to stress test the smartPCA code and hence wondering.

There is a good chance that this also depends on the RAM available on your computer.

The FAQ page says billion, not million:

For data sets between 2 billion and 8 billion genotypes, some care is required.
