New to bioinformatics, ask for some help

Hello! I'm Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemistry and also I have experience with Linux administration, programming with C# and MS SQL Server programming, too. I really like bioinformatics because it is linking my education and my passion (programming). Can someone answer me on some questions: - Which programming language is the most applicable for bioinformatics research and analysis? - Does exists any chance to work this job from home (remote, because in my country bioinformatics is very rare, and I want invest all my time and capabilities in learning it)? - I woud very grateful if anyone recommend me appropriate literature.

Thank a lot of.
