The Computational Genomics group and the Translational Research department (ECTR) is searching for a bioinformatics software developer to develop methods for the analysis of NGS data collected from Immuno-Oncology clinical trials.

The successful candidate will join a team of Ph.D. Bioinformatics software developer scientists whose primary roles are hands-on data integration of genomics data, analysis and visualization of diverse biological and chemical data sets in the area of immuno-oncology.

The responsibilities of the candidate is to work with clinical scientists in the Translational Research department (ECTR) and to develop methods for the analysis of tumor microenvironment, patient stratification and molecular pathway characterization using RNA-Seq data and other transcriptional profiling technologies collected from ongoing Immuno-Oncology clinical trials.

This role requires direct involvement in the design and implementation of new platforms, tools and analytic methods and leveraging the resources within the group to address the needs listed above.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must have a Ph.D. in the fields of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or related disciplines and 3+ years of academic or industrial experience, or a M.Sc and 7+ years of experience.
  • Solid understanding of tumor genetics/genomics and the drug development process is a must.
  • Proven track record of developing bioinformatics tools.Intimate knowledge of common bioinformatics data analysis tools specially in the area of Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Experience working in cloud computing environments.
  • Extensive experience authoring software in one or more server-side programming languages (Perl, Python, Java, C++, etc.) is required.
  • Knowledge of project-tracking related software like Jira or Confluence as well as software for version control like Git is necessary.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems (Oracle, Postgresql, Mysql) and statistically oriented languages (R, Matlab) is highly desirable.
  • Intimate knowledge of Linux or Unix is essential.Excellent communication skills are critical.
