I’ve got a data frame with 5365 rows (plant sociological relevés) and 1035 columns (species) and would like to set up smoothed (i.e. randomized) species against area curves (SAC). The problem is that the plots are of quite different sizes (0.1 to 1000 m²). There is another column in the data frame indicating the plot size.
In the specaccum or poolaccum functions of vegan I didn’t find a possibility to explicitly take the plot area into account.
As far as I understand, it would be necessary to create a permutation scheme that permutes the relevés within the same class of plot size and then combines the SACs to one ‘typical’ smoothed SAC.
I can’t imagine that I’m the first to ask this question but browsing the internet I didn’t find any R code or package. Any help would be very welcome!
Thanks! Peter
