Can not find a single windows large tree editor.
I searched and downloaded 5-6 tree editors for windows. I have an 86 megabyte OTT tree file.
the 5-6 programs all crash if I try to load a large file.
I can write a tree editor in one day on my PC, which doesn't crash.
I want to reduce the tree size by reducing all leaf families of more than 3-4 entries to only 3-4 leaves. I can write such a program that will read-write OTT files, but it's a hassle.
Do I really have to have Linux for it?

If you need tools that run only on Linux, you could set up a virtual machine. There are plenty of tutorials for this such as this one. But if you can write a large tree editor that suits your needs in one day, why not do it ? It's probably going to be faster than testing a bunch of software (which you have to install, then have to read the docs, maybe reformat your files...).
You could run Linux in a VM like VirtualBox for free :)
