SUMMARY:
Intellia Therapeutics is seeking a Computational Biologist/bioinformatician to support the development of CRISPR/Cas9 based therapeutics. This is an opportunity to contribute to all aspects of Intellia's bioinformatics platform, from building pipelines for processing next-generation sequence (NGS) data to analyzing downstream data.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and support NGS pipelines using commonly utilized tools (BWA, Bowtie, SAMtools, etc).
- Apply rigorous statistical methods for testing hypotheses on processed data.
- Implement and optimize databases and data storage methods (MySQL).
- Work with scientists to develop computational methods and tools to support new assay and implement data analyses.
- Create scientifically rigorous visualizations, communications, and presentations of results.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Demonstrated ability to write elegant and clean code in R, Python, Perl, or C++.
- Experience processing and analyzing biological data, specifically sequencing data.
- Familiarity with Linux and shell scripting/bash.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS/MS in Bioinformatics with at least 2 years of relevant experience or recent Ph.D. in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics or related field.
Please stop asking this on job posts. It was explained before that this is not appropriate, and you acknowledged, but still you ask. It's not personal, it's just that no one is going to respond and this is something that you'll have to work out with the employer. Go ahead and contact the employer if you have travel/visa concerns, but FYI, this is usually that is something you should bring up much later in the application process, not as a one line introduction.
@Ses, I am not sure why this offends you so much. I am not even sure even if you want people to ask questions which are of no concern to you. I guess I need to ask questions you like. It is better to walk away from this group of elitists who get offended for every thing than staying. Do one thing. Post here what kind of questions you like. That would help people not offend you
What @SES said is people who post Job adv on forums do not respond for queries like this, you should contact them directly, that is what @Istvan Albert has mentioned previously. No one is going to lose anything if you walk away from this forum. It's a place to spread the Bioinformatics knowledge. And they already mentioned what can be asked here BioStar: An Online Question & Answer Resource for the Bioinformatics Community.
It's not a good opening question. A better approach would be to do a background research - visa sponsorship data is public, BTW. If you're not sure, apply, interview and ask about it in the later stages - you'll lose nothing by just applying for a position. Like people mention here, no one will give you a straight response to your question - it's like asking an interviewer "Will I be allowed to successfully negotiate for a higher pay than what you'd offer me?" as the first question.
