The BioJavaScript (BioJS; http://biojs.net) project was established in 2013 as an open source library of reusable components to visualise and analyse biological data on the web. All BioJS components are distinct modules hosted on GitHub and are available through NPM. Modules are thus reusable, extendable and can be combined to meet particular visualisation needs.

The BioJS registry (http://biojs.io) is a state of the art web platform offering fast and convenient access to components. It constitutes a centralised resource through which BioJS components can be easily discovered using keywords. Statistics are also provided that help facilitate the choosing or finding of a particular module. Components can be tested and downloaded via a single button click without the need for registration. Each component can be tested without having to install them.

The image above illustrates an applied example of the Cytoscape.js component where the network can be navigated by panning and zooming (via mouse drag and scrolling, respectively). Nodes can be dragged around to adapt the network to the user's preference. The nodes in the network react to mouse clicks, causing tissue specific gene expression to be displayed for the protein.
