Hi,

I am trying to explore SNP-SNP interactions in a few large datasets in dbGap (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/gap/cgi-bin/study.cgi?study_id=phs000346.v2.p2)

I am wondering if it is feasible to produce the .ped and .map files just from the phenotype data available publicly (I am willing to do necessary conversions), so that I will decide if I have to request access to the molecular data or not.

Thank you!

.map file contain information about SNPs whilst .ped file contains genotypes (and a phenotype-column). You can't just construct a valid *.map or *.ped without genotype-data available.
