Liftover from mm9 to hg19 to identify conserved repetitive elements
Hi,
I am interested in finding out whether certain repetitive elements in mice are conserved in humans. I used the liftover tool to map the genomic coordinates of the repetitive regions from mm9 to hg19 and found that most of the repetitive regions of interest in mm9 do not exist in hg19. This is the result I was expecting. However, I don't know whether these results are reliable. Can I confidently state that the repetitive elements I identified in the mouse do not exist in humans? Is using the approach I described with the liftovertool an appropriate way of doing this analysis or is there a better way?
