Good point. I thought it may get more visibility on a more generic forum.
You were on to something about visibility. In fact, Biostars does come up higher than Bioconductor support when searching for similar information and I found Martin Morgan's answer on Biostars here to be quite informative and have links related to what I needed, specifically the information about " 'Previous versions' box on the help overview page", although maybe now it seems called 'Previous Releases'.
