Please, is there any archive of BLAST database historical releases? For example historical monthly releases of BLAST non-redundant database. I would like to make some simple comparison analysis for certain type of proteins and their increase in time.

Thank you a lot for any answer.

I'm convinced this question has come up before, but can't find it using search. The answer then, as now is no, databases are not archived. But as the answer below says, you can retrieve sequences by date and format them.

AFAIK the answer to your question is no. However, every GI is associated with a date, so with entrez you can fetch e.g. every seq that was released in 2005. This way you can build cumulative dbs..

Thank you a lot, this should work perfectly for my task. However, it would be great to have some downloadable database of mappings between GenInfo identifiers and their assignment date.

Yes, NCBI should store old nr, e.g. every month, they are crucial for any bioinformatics, in meanwhile you can use my copy (far from perfect, but better than nothing)
