Job: Bioinformatician Computational Biologist, NYU Langone Medical Center, New York
NYU Langone Medical Center, a world-class, patient-centered, integrated, academic medical center, and one of the nation's premier centers for excellence in clinical care, biomedical research and medical education, is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join the Genome Technology Center (GTC) Bioinformatics team. S/he will be responsible for analyzing genomics data generated in the GTC and supporting innovative cutting-edge research conducted by principal investigators at the NYU School of Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with bench scientists to understand and accomplish their research goals
- Provide expertise in various types of sequencing data analysis (e.g. RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C-seq, bisulfite sequencing, whole-genome sequencing)
- Perform robust data quality control and validation
- Design, implement, execute standard pipelines for routine genomics data analyses
- Design, implement, execute customized pipelines for collaborative research projects
- Adapt genomic data analysis pipelines in a rapidly evolving research environment
- Integrate different types of genomics data
- Prepare concise presentations of computational results
Required skills
- MS Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related disciplines
- Experience in Unix/Linux systems including HPC environments
- Scripting languages: Python or Perl
- Statistical packages: R (preferred) or Matlab.
- 1+ years of experience with sequencing data (two of DNA-seq, RNA-seq and ChIP-seq)
- 1+ years of experience creating customized sequencing analysis pipelines
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills with proficiency in English language (written and spoken)
