Question about the possibility of comparing samples based on within sample z-score
I have a novel cell line which I would like to compare to tumors of the same species by means of a kind of signature. I was wondering if the following approach could be valid, I am not a bioinformatician.
I was thinking about expressing the expression of each gene as a z-score with respect to all genes measured within the same sample, then to compare samples based on the z-scores of each gene. Then somehow testing this comparison with some kind of significance test.
