Relationship between Affymetric probe id, ensembl id and entrez id and gene names?

I got confused with the relationship with the microarray chip probe id. do you think they have one to one relation ship with gene of human being, ensembl id and entrez id? what is the relationship between them? why do we need to use them for what purpose?

What is the point to converting them?

I think the Affy website can be a perfect place to start your search. Also GEO offers a very useful table with probe IDs and gene names like here, or here... Google is also a great resource to do your homework.

Very generally speaking, if you are talking about gene expression arrays, there will be multiple probes per gene. you need them because some probes bind to different places in the transcript and, if that gene has multiple isoforms/splice variants, you should be able to detect them.

For ensembl and entrez id I'm gonna leave that to you as homework by using Google and reading previous Biostar posts here and here.

:) It is not my homework but research, in my opinion, do yo think the microarry chips has same dna sequences or the company can make the chip by your request? In this case, the affymetric probe id will has a huge number,(due to the dna combination) how can the emsembl website know their probe id if the probe id was just invented yesterday?

I haven't operated microarry before, so I can not figure out the relationship.
