Hi,

I have performed a blastn on my computer with the stand alone version of Blast-2.2.30+.

I choose XML output and opened it in Excel 2007, but column F - (BlastOutput_query-def) is somewhat vexing me - it contains the name of the first sequence in my Query file (fasta format) for all the results

Is this just a query title? Because it was the first line in the fasta file or does it indicate something else?

The specific parameters used

blastn -query query.txt -db database -out output.xls -task blastn -ungapped -outfmt 5

I would like to add I have made an extensive web search and consulted the documentation provided with the package without luck, before posting this question.
