query on micro RNAs(miRNAs)
Hi community,
Actually I am new to bio-informatics. I am working on insilico mining of miRNAs. in one article it was given that n/n, n-1/n and n-2/n nucleotide matches, whereas n represents known miRNA length, is this n/n, n-1/n, n-2/n indicates query coverage like 100%, 95%, 90% respectively during blast . looking forward for reply..

Hi,
It is supposed to be no more than 2 mismatches of miRNA candidates aligned to the known miRNAs mature sequences.I agreed with Dr.Lorena Pantano, and you should attach the the description about your query in the paper. Then we can give a precise explanation of the meaning. Otherwise, you can email authors of the paper directly.

Hi,
I think you need to modify your question asking about what you want to do, or something else. Like: what I want to obtain, my problem ., my (putative) data ..
Maybe a link to the paper to understand what you are saying help people to understand.
