label everypoint in a scatterplot w/o overlapping labels

Hi guys,

I really don't know if this is the right place but I thought it might be the most appropriate for it.

Anyways,

I need to create several scatterplot (using R) and need to label every single point in it. The plots mainly contain 20 to roughly 50 points where some 10ish points or so are very very close to each other.

Since they represent single elements I cannot group them and place one single label, thus I am trying to shift labels accordingly. However, I couldn't figure out a solution to do this. I am using ggplot2 and tried direct.labels / thigmophobe. Since they need to be created batchwise I can't use interactive methods...

Any recommendations are highly appreciated!
