Several graduate student positions with research assistantships are available in the Department of Biology/Department of Computer Science at the University of South Dakota (USD). The research projects are within the general areas of bioinformatics, computational systems biology, biological big data mining, comparative genomics, and functional genomics. Current research involves the development and application of new algorithms and computational methods for analyzing high-throughput and large-scale biological data, including various omics data obtained from next-generation sequencing platforms.
Graduate students enrolled will be trained in a multidisciplinary environment and have opportunity to collaborate with biologists and computer scientists.
Candidates with background in either computer science or biology are encouraged to apply for the graduate student research assistantship.
