New Bioinformatics Open Source Project And The Open Bioinformatics Foundation (O|B|F)

Anyone knows of any procedures or requirements to obtain support/"membership" from the Open Bioinformatics Foundation?

Our Institute is building the basic IT infrastructure and we do not have enough human resources to provide required support (I'm the only designer, developer, tester, etc) and we would like to enable collaboration of potential bioinformaticists around the world.

I have tried to contact someone in the Open Bioinformatics Foundation without success at all. The Board page

I think you are misunderstanding the role of the OBF, their goals do not include offering bioinformatics support.

Hi Istvan, what do you interpret about: "The Open Bioinformatics Foundation or O|B|F is a non profit, volunteer run organization focused on supporting open source programming in bioinformatics."?

Because they claim started with BioPerl, BioJava and Biopython and now here http://www.open-bio.org/wiki/Projects you can see

  • BioRuby
  • BioSQL
  • DAS and their list of Global Sequence Identifiers
  • MOBY
  • EMBOSS
  • OBDA
  • Generic Genome Browser
  • Chado
  • Pise
  • OpenBQS

So if they don't crawl the entire web for new bioinformatics OSS projects, how do you expect that other projects get some "support" there?
