Bioinformatics
The Bioinformatics Scientist will support bioinformatics analysis and work on software development for novel application with PacBio SMRT sequencing data. The candidate must be passionate about solving novel bioinformatics problems with a creative mind, love to handle large amounts of data, and be excited about gaining new experience with various data types and software skills. She or he is expected to develop software that implements novel bioinformatics algorithms, work with collaborators for publication with his/her skills in bioinformatics, data analysis, and biological insight. The ability to design, test, document, and communicate your results to diverse audiences is also an important aspect of this role.

Software
Pacific Biosciences is seeking a disciplined software engineer to develop biologically oriented data-analysis software. A successful candidate will be an experienced Python programmer with knowledge of software best-practices, e.g., version control, code review, and unit testing. Candidates must have the ability to read and understand existing code in a variety of languages – good communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Candidates should be passionate about software design and have a deep understanding about the tools they use, e.g., programming languages. Candidates should be really fast learners. Knowledge of distributed and parallel computing is desired.

Algorithms/Statistics
The Bioinformatics Engineer will work on software development for novel applications with PacBio SMRT sequencing data. An ideal candidate will have excellent software engineering experience with a good knowledge of software best practices. Candidates should have a strong background in modern statistics.
