Hello everyone,

This topic is a little off the usual question space.

I've run into this question a few times, and I'm sure if I have thought of this challenge so many times, someone would've thought of a solution to it.

Healthcare is getting patient-friendly and data-intensive simultaneously, and part of this evolution is the creation of registries and allied websites to provide patients with clear, relevant, curated information. As a healthcare organization, we have a ton of data, but this needs to be made available to patients in a de-identified, aggregated manner, and we also need to have a mechanism for them to be able to enter their information.

This calls for a web development team with excellent knowledge on data security practices, and general HIPAA compliance. We may not need them full-time, so it makes sense that there would be organizations that would focus on building such applications.

My question is - how do those of you that encounter this challenge approach it? Are there firms that do this kind of application development? Will they agree to confidentiality agreements? Might they give us a quote based on a preliminary discussion?

What are my options here?
