Not bioinformatics, but directly related.

In the field of genomics everybody knows (or at least heard) that sequencing costs dropped dramatically during the last decade. One of the components of cost reduction is an increasing throughput of sequencing machines.

What about the costs of library preparation? Did they change a lot in past years?

Thanks

You should post this over at SeqAsnwers.com.

This is going to be a difficult question to answer since I doubt people keep track of what they paid for library kits over years. Kits have gone through iterations as well so same exact kit may not be available today. There are also things like mantis available now that can help with reducing the costs of libraries by fluidic tricks.

Thanks, I will try it there. Will keep posted here for those who are curious.

The quality of library kits changed as well. Many kits available today are substantially improved compared to their previous versions. Even if the price is the same, the performance may be substantially better.
