Do Ensembl gene IDs always correspond to human genes?

Hello,

When I see an Ensembl gene ID (ENSG00000139618 for example), is it always a human gene what is mentioned? I know it can have orthologs in other species, but I think an Ensemble gene ID means a human gene in the first place. Am I right?

Thanks.

ENSG followed by 11 digits means a human gene. For other species, there is a three-letter code for the species name. For example, ENSOARG followed by digits would be an Ensembl sheep (Ovis aries) gene ID.
