Does anyone know how/where to access MeDUSA for methyl-seq studies? The paper describing it is here.

But the link to download it does not function (http://www2.cancer.ucl.ac.uk/medicalgenomics/medusa/).

Has MeDUSA been discontinued?

EDIT: MeDUSA is still offline (as of 1/22/2015).

It's likely that the server is just down at the moment. Either try again later when it's not after midnight on this side of the Atlantic or email the authors.

The problem is I emailed the authors months ago but did not receive a response (and the issue hasn't been fixed). Has MeDUSA been discontinued or something?

That's disconcerting. I've not heard anything about MeDUSA being purposefully pulled from the web, but then again I probably wouldn't. My only suggestion would be to try sending another round of emails, possibly changing the subject line in hopes that you receive a reply this time. If push comes to shove, you should be able to contact some of the author's colleagues who are apparently also using MeDUSA.

Once you hear back from them or this gets resolved, could you post back here with an update?

Yes, those are the colleagues that I already emailed. Perhaps the Biostars community can try contacting them, another strategy would be to contact the journal that published their article directly.

Hmm, seems you've tried everything I can think of :)

I'll try emailing the authors and see if I have better luck.

Of course I get an immediate reply :P

They're checking into why the link is broken. Presumably they'll have that fixed in not terribly long.

How much longer do you think they may need? Doesn't seem like a broken link issue to me...

Getting a reply might take a bit longer this time. Apparently there was a server crash and the corresponding author doesn't have email access at the moment. I CC'd some of the people he indicated should be responsible for this, but I'm not holding my breath that they'll reply to me.

This is a really good example of why we (as a field) should demand software be posted to public sites (github, sourceforge, etc.) rather than hosted by individual labs.

They still don't have the site up?!? Crazy! I'll send out another email.

It sounds like they forgot. I suggested just posting it to sourceforge or github, we'll see what they say to that.

It's finally back online here. The full reply I got (they attached the source code, which is the "this file" being referred to) from the authors is below:

I have added this file as version 2.1 to the medusa webpage at https://www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/medical-genomics/medusa Supporting files are available at the Gigascience webpage (http://gigadb.org/dataset/100035) as indicated in https://www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/medical-genomics/medusaproject The two medical genomics pages have just been published so changes should be effective online in less than 2 hours. Let me know if there is any problem with the webpages.
