Trying to install Biopython 1.57 on Windows 7 computer; Already have Python 2.7.2 installed; I download the easy installer, it located the Python file. When I hit next, the screen kind of washes out, and then windows tells me that the installer has stopped because of some problem.

I also tried using the source file, but when I open up setup I get a quick command line screen which dissapears and then nothing else.

Anybody have any solutions?

Thanks

is your machine 32-bit or 64-bit?

If your machine is 64 bit, they don't have the official installer. So you might need to try the Unofficial source

Install a compatible version of setuptools from http://pypi.python.org/pypi/setuptools

Then at the command prompt type

easy_install biopython
