I am a student in the graduation year in biomedical sciences department.i'd like to get involved in an graduation project in bioinformatics, To make the transition, i'd like to get involved in an open source project.

What bioinformatics open source project could welcome beginners in the field.

I will say what I pretty much always recommend to beginners: Get a supervisor. This person must be experienced in the field and should provide a well-defined project with a clear analysis goal while being not too extensive and complex for a beginner. Do not start things on your own as this will take a lot of time especially because bioinformatics offers a lot of opportunities while having little to no standards when it comes to best practices for data analysis.
