Bioinformatics PhD in distance education form

I am 34 now. I have no time to prepare for any cet for PhD. I need a PhD for my job and my future.

Please can you help me how to do PhD in bioinformatics, and where to go for distance education in bioinformatics?

You don't need to write CET/SLET for PhD. In my limited knowledge about UGC PhD requirements, if you have 2 yr of experience as RA, it is equivalent to JRF i.e any one with 2 yr experience as RA, can join PhD provided PI /guide has project and afford your fellowship. In India, having PhD in bioinformatics doesn't confer much advantage and infact, one with PhD is overqualified for most of the bioinformatics jobs. Much of the bioinformatics work is CRO. Except in few case, they don't need PhD. Since you would like to pursue a PhD in bioinformatics, try contacting faculty direct if you have research experience over 2 yrs. Bioinformatics insitute of India offers few distance courses, but I am not sure if they offer PhD.

No, that cant be true. People have jobs and future even without a PhD.

You are missing out the whole idea of a PhD. It's not like any other degree where you opt for some courses, you sit in some exams, you are graded and then you have a certificate. A "PhD" is a process; a journey where you learn by experience and failures. You learn to design your experiments; frame your own questions; develop a sense of problem solving. You fail at times and learn by mistakes and move on. That entire process ; that journey, polish you as a scientist. You develop abilities that you apply in other areas when you done with it. You miss all of this is a part time or distance PhD.

last 8 year i am working as asst,prof in agril biotechnology dept.but i am still work on contract bases.no future in this job ,when i qulify phd of net .i have a chance to work continuously in this private college.tell mi finds how to full fill the norms and rules.

There are some funding bodies (in the UK, for example) that will supply a 'salary' (stipend) and lab expenses to International (non-EU) students, although, I do not yet know the ramifications of the UK leaving the EU. Have you considered a full-time PhD program in this way? Agricultural sciences is strong at certain universities in the UK, such as (off the top of my head) University of Warwick.

I think that >90% of the people on BioStars are contract-based (including me), but this reality is becoming reflected in other industries too. Having a permanent employee is risky for a company in a time when we all face difficulty due to the greed of the top 1% who crashed the markets.
